Q. Will my credit rating/history affect my chances of getting approved for a cash advance?

A. No.  NLF advances funds based on the specific facts of your case.

Q. Will I incur any up-front costs?

A.   No -- there is no initial cost (and hence no risk) to request an advance from NLF.

After you submit a request and your attorney provides more information, we evaluate your case.  If you are approved for an advance, there are fees charged to you that are paid to NLF ONLY if you win your case.  If you lose your case, you owe nothing, and keep the advance you received.

If you receive an advance, we file a lien on your case with your attorney.  If there is a recovery, your attorney will repay to NLF, from that recovery, the advance you received plus fees and costs (which are outlined in your Settlement Agreement). All fees and costs are disclosed to you before you accept an advance.

Q. How do I receive my cash advance?  When will that occur?

A.  Once an agreement has been signed, notarized and acknowledged by your attorney, and we receive those documents, a check is made out to you and mailed immediately to your residence or your legal representative's office.

Q. How much do I have to pay to NLF if I am successful with my case?

A. The amount of your advance, plus all disclosed fees and costs included in the Settlement Agreement, is paid to NLF after a recovery is made in the case, just like other liens in the case.  This amount is paid before you receive any part of your settlement.

Q. If I lose my case, do I have to pay anything back to NLF?

A. No. You owe absolutely nothing if your case is not successful.  If you lose your case, NLF absorbs the loss and you keep the money we advanced to you.

Q.  How is an NLF advance different from a loan?

A.   The latter are typically considered "recourse loans", where money must be repaid via monthly payments to your lender. With a non-recourse advance from NLF,  you only pay if you collect money from your case. Since NLF advances are contingent solely upon your case, there is no specific time limit for repayment of the advance, and no monthly payments -- plus, you ONLY will need to repay IF you win a settlement.

Q.   After I get a cash advance from NLF, will NLF participate in my case in any way?

A.  No.   NLF does not take part in the litigation, we solely provide funding.
